Responsible business

At Bridgehouse we strive for purpose alongside profit and we are a registered B Corp and a socially conscious service provider.

Responsible business

Bridgehouse was founded in 2006 by trained Lawyer and Chartered Secretary Ibi Eso.

Her aim was to offer the professional skills needed to meet statutory legal obligations and governance responsibilities for organisations that cannot justify the expense – or do not want the commitment – of employing a full time Chartered Company Secretary. Bridgehouse was born to fill that gap.

Achieving B Corp certification

The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.

B Corp

We are delighted to be a part of this fantastic movement and to embed our commitment to purpose beyond profit. We are passionate about being a good example to businesses. Joining the B Corp movement was a massive step in demonstrating and acting upon our commitment to be a responsible business.

As a certified B Corp we have embraced a holistic approach to business, prioritising social and environmental impact alongside financial performance.

Corporate social responsibility

At Bridgehouse we support a wide range of CSR initiatives throughout the year, with a strong focus on supporting the health and wellbeing of our team. We strongly advocate for good mental wellbeing at work, running regular talking sessions and sharing information and signposting support services. On our team we have a dedicated, trained mental health ambassador on hand to support anyone who is struggling with their mental health.

We actively participate in significant causes, sharing information among our team and creating valuable content. This includes events such as International Women’s Day, Stress Awareness, Time to Talk Day and addressing current issues such as supporting employees amid the cost-of-living crisis.

Environmental impact

Bridgehouse is committed to remote and flexible working, recognising the need for flexibility as well as an opportunity to reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

In 2022 we downsized our London office, moving to a smaller space. This move has ensured that our energy use remains as low as possible.

Bridgehouse has a strict green office policy in place to ensure that our office is managed responsibly and to encourage employees to embrace good office and home office practices.

In our office we implement recycling, use of energy efficient lighting/appliances, reduce non-essential office supplies, ensure proper WEEE disposal, adhere to responsible procurement practices, purchase biodegradable/recycled options for single-use items and make a conscious effort to offset emissions associated with business travel.

Diversity and inclusion

Bridgehouse is an equal opportunities employer. We are passionate about breaking down barriers to work, ensuring talented people achieve their goals. By encouraging flexible working and tailoring work packages to individual needs, we access the best people for the job.

Over half of the Bridgehouse team are working parents or carers, many work flexible part-time hours and are free to work from home, in the office or take a hybrid approach.
